We Don't Need No Stinkin' Bubbles In Football! NFL Super Bowl LV Preview

Before I get into the preview, let's talk about the Madden Pro Bowl. As expected, it wasn't a shitshow full of glitches because it was heavily edited. I may not have been able to laugh at them dealing with game breaking bugs but I did enjoy the show and that hour and change just flew by. I also appreciated that they used the dump button on them cursing instead of **beep**. Beeps are the work of the devil! Kyler Murray was declared the MVP even though Bubba Wallace and Jamal Lewis were more impactful on the blowout win in my opinion.

But the one person who probably shouldn't have logged in to his account was Keyshawn Johnson. Whoooo boy he got REKT in this game...by a racecar driver!

I shouldn't talk shit though, I only play on Rookie mode because I want to see how many records, programming scripts and bones I can break in this game. 

So anyway, by the time my lazy ass post this blog, Kansas City should have arrived in Tampa to play the Bucs in the Super Bowl. If you haven't heard by now, this is the first time a team will play the Super Bowl in their own stadium. Of course this won't be a home game because home fans have been priced out, the NFL invited a bunch of health care workers to the game and the Bucs' pirate ship won't fire after scores this time. Still, I imagine the Bucs will be more rested up for the game considering they got to sit around at home for two weeks while the Chiefs will be flying in the day before to play this game. And that's not to mention all the other problems the Chiefs ran into leading up to Sunday.

The biggest "Ruh Roh" moment happened when news broke last Sunday that OL Daniel Kilgore and WR Demarcus Robinson were exposed to Coronavirus while they were getting their hair cut. Luckily for them, it happened early in the week so after testing negative all week both of them are cleared to play Sunday. Now there's news that Andy Reid's son OLB coach Britt crashed his Dodge Ram into a Chevy Impala that ran out of gas and a Chevy Traverse that was helping the driver on the highway. The crash injured a 5 and 4 year old with the 5 year old in critical condition. He admitted he had "2-3 drinks" before driving and the police noticed his bloodshot eyes before he went to the hospital with stomach pain. He has a history of traffic offenses before he started his coaching career and unfortunately, run-ins with the law runs in the family. So I imagine that has to be a major distraction for Andy in this dour Super Bowl.

Having said that, it's still impressive how the NFL was able to make it to the Super Bowl without reducing or canceling regular season games or playing in a bubble. No other league that I know of can say they completed all of their regularly scheduled games (The WWE continued programming during the pandemic but they would've been better off showing Attitude and Ruthless Aggression Era Raw and Smackdown in place of live shows). Yes there've been postponements and switching the bye weeks around and forcing a team to play without a QB but the important thing is that there's one game left to play so let's get to the prognostication.

THE BIG GAME

Kansas City Chiefs           34

Tompa Bay Buccaneers    31

This is a rematch of their Week 12 matchup where the Chiefs won 27-24. They jumped out to a 17 point lead in the first quarter, traded 10 points in the 2nd-3rd quarter and gave up 14 to make it a close game. Tom Brady had a nice game throwing for 345 yards and 3 TDs but those 2 second half interceptions hampered his comeback attempt. Now here they are again in Raymond James Stadium battling it out to decide the world champion of football.

As you can see, these teams are fairly even trading significant advantages and disadvantages at defense and rushing. The Bucs remain 2nd at passing but somehow gotten WORSE at running the ball since their last encounter. Their running game is a HUGE liability that they can't afford to put out a subpar performance against the high powered Chiefs like last time. I feel the Bucs' defense is capable enough to subdue Mahomes' passing attack. I also feel their offense is good enough to tax the Chiefs' middle of the road defense. But according to the simulation, they will make a critical mistake, whether it's turnovers, penalties or piss poor contributions from their RBs that will cost them the win and kick off the Chiefs' dynasty for sure. BTW, whoever wins Sunday, a former Steeler who forced his way out of Pittsburgh will win. I wonder how Yinzers feel about this situation and are they still salty over Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown?
