I'm Talking About A 16 Team NFL Playoff! NFL Week 10 Preview

This past Tuesday, the NFL owners agreed to expand the playoffs to 16 teams if any "meaningful" regular season games are canceled. They already expanded it to 14 teams in the offseason as part of the new CBA where only the #1 seed gets a bye while the other six teams play the wildcard round. For this hypothetical playoff, I assume it's gonna be eight wildcard games then we progress like normal for the future rounds. I say FUCK YEAH!

I always wanted to witness a 16 team playoff in football. Sure, the FCS will do one next spring but those games won't be on tv. All of the NFL Playoffs will be on tv meaning a full day of football across Wildcard Weekend with four games on Saturday AND Sunday! Even though it probably won't happen, I would like to see each network (FOX, NBC, ABC, CBS) get two games. We've see NBC and ESPN/ABC use a B-Team for their coverage before so I wouldn't mind that being a regular thing for the Wildcard round to go along with the A and B-Teams of FOX and CBS for now on. Another bonus to expanding the playoff field is shutting up those who bitch about a division winner with a losing record getting in while a 10 win team gets left out. Now, both teams will get in as well as other teams who are good but a few bad bounces keeps them out of the playoff hunt.

THE GAMES

Indianapolis Colts    38
Tennessee Titans     31

I finally get to see Phillip Rivers and his unique push throwing motion. Last season he said when he was a kid, the ball was too big for his hands to throw it. Once he got older, he threw the ball like it was too big for his hands. Since it was working, there was no need to change it where it literally looks like he's pushing the ball forward instead of actually throwing it. We will see how many TDs will he push for in this predicted win.

Philadelphia Eagles   17
New York Giants        37

The NFC East cannibalization continues with a bottom feeding Giants win over the leader Eagles. They are like crabs pulling each other down in a bucket.

Jacksonville Jaguars   27
Green Bay  Packers     24

It's not often that a rookie gets to play against his childhood hero at a professional level. It's even rarer that said rookie beats his idol while he's still in his prime like Jake Luton aims to do against Aaron Rodgers this Sunday.

Boston Braves               20
Portsmouth Spartans    31

Kyle Allen is gone for the year with a leg injury and will be replaced by another QB who had a leg injury. Alex Smith is capable enough to win the division but this o-line is so garbage I fear he will get seriously injured again. Please walk away from this loss intact Alex!

Houston Texans       27
Cleveland Browns   23

The Texans have been a disappointing mess this season. Instead of building off of last year's 10-6 playoff run, they regressed to a 2-6 season so far. They already got rid of their GM and head coach but it's clear more heads should roll. You know what that means, Amy Palcic, YOU'RE FIRED!!! You didn't do a good enough job at PR spinning this losing season into a positive so get your ass out of Houston! Just because they only have 2 wins doesn't mean they accept failure!

Tompa Bay Buccaneers   16
Carolina Panthers             23

The Buccaneers got their asses KICKED up and down the field by the Saints last week! They hyped this game so much only for Tom Brady to do absolutely nothing but throw three interceptions in front of the home crowd. If Antonio Brown is supposed to be this game changer on offense, they better get him going or they gonna lose again to a divisional opponent.

LA  Chargers       49
Miami Dolphins   16

The Chargers is one of those teams where a few bad bounces is keeping them out of the playoff race. Just look at their schedule, all of their losses were one score games where they could've pulled out a win if they scored another TD. Maybe they will take out that frustration of being a two win team despite being 8th in offense with a 11th ranked defense on the Dolphins.

Denver Broncos        13
Las Vegas Raiders    22

Last week, I heard Derek Carr say he feels he doesn't get any respect. Considering fans went from thinking he's the future of the franchise to wanting him gone, he may have a point. But considering he's been average in his 7 year career, I can also see why fans don't respect him much. Either way, if he wants some respect, win more meaningful games!

Buffalo Bills                10
Arizona Cardinals      41

Bills Mafia donated more than $200,000 to the Oishei Children's Hospital in Buffalo in honor of Josh Allen's grandmother who died over the weekend. That was nice of them. And that'll be the only positive thing out of Buffalo this week.

San Francisco 49ers    26
New Orleans Saints       9

The 49ers are such a mixed bag that they are just as likely to win the rest of their games as they are to lose them so beating the Saints wouldn't be much of a shock here.

Seattle Seahawks       44
Los Angeles Rams     31

The Seahawks locked up Pete Carroll for four more years! In his 10 years as head coach, he reached the playoffs eight times, won the NFC West four times, been to two Super Bowls winning Super Bowl XLVIII and is the winningest Seahawks coach with a 106-60-1 record so far. Like Tom Brady, he wants to keep going so we will see what 74 year old Carroll have in store for 2025. In the meantime, celebrate that new contract with a win over a division rival.

Cincinnati Bengals      13
Pittsburgh Steelers     20

After trading away a disgruntled player, they signed disgruntled Falcon Takkarist McKinley off of waivers. While in Pittsburgh, they look to play better after getting a scare from the Cowboys last week with or without Big Ben. Just don't let Joe Burrow play like Aaron Rodgers.

Baltimore Ravens          10
New England Patriots    26

I get the Patriots are having a down year, but I didn't think it was so bad they barely escaped the Jets...THE JETS!!! Cam Newton may not be in Lamar Jackson's stratosphere but he gonna have to play like Superman to pull out this upset on SNF.

Minnesota Vikings    28
Chicago Bears          10

The simulation says the Vikings will win this game but the insights don't look to be in their favor.

  • Since 2000, the Vikings are 4-16 vs Bears in Chicago.
  • Adam Thielen has fewer than 6 fantasy points in 2 straight games while Chicago allowed just one Top-20 fantasy WR this season.
  • Kirk Cousins is 0-9 on MNF. That's the most losses without a win since 2000.
  • Ronald Jones II is the only 100 yard rusher the Bears allowed this season.
So yeah, the Vikings got their work cut out for them.

LAST WEEK     10-4
OVERALL        74-58-1
